Dermal fillers are used to treat wrinkles, correct facial imperfections, and create a more youthful, fresh facial appearance.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers, sometimes called soft tissue fillers, are substances designed to be injected beneath the surface of the skin to add volume and fullness. Dermal fillers also treat wrinkles on the face. They’re primarily used to treat smile lines, though the fillers can also be used to plump up the lips or cheeks. Sometimes, they’re used for hand treatments or to reduce the appearance of scars.

There are a variety of FDA approved filler products that Dr. Namazie uses based on the specific needs of each patient. Some of these fillers are:

  • Restylane®- hyaluronic acid gel.
  • JUVÉDERM®- biodegradable, non-pyrogenic, viscoelastic, clear, colorless, homogenized gel.
  • JUVÉDERM® Voluma- hyaluronic acid gel, a naturally occurring substance that helps to bind water to cells.

Laser Skin Resurfacing & Rejuvenation

Laser Skin Resurfacing & Rejuvenation

Laser skin rejuvenation is a skin resurfacing procedure that uses a laser to improve the appearance of the skin or to treat minor facial flaws. The following are reasons many people choose laser skin resurfacing and rejuvenation:

  • Sun damage
  • Scars caused by acne, chickenpox or injuries
  • Lines around the eyes, mouth, and cheeks
  • Loss of skin tone

Laser resurfacing can greatly improve your complexion if you are experiencing any of these issues.

Laser skin resurfacing & rejuvenation can be done with two types of lasers:

Ablative laser:

This wounding laser removes the thin outer layer of skin, known as the epidermis, and heats the underlying skin, which stimulates the growth of new collagen fibers. As the epidermis heals and regrows, the treated area appears smoother and tighter.

Nonablative Laser:

This is a non-wounding laser that stimulates collagen growth, which over time helps improve skin tone and texture. This approach can be done with various types of lasers as well as intense pulsed light (IPL) devices. Nonablative laser resurfacing is less invasive and requires less recovery time than does ablative laser resurfacing.

Both methods can be delivered with a fractional laser, which leaves microscopic columns of untreated tissue throughout the treatment area. Fractional lasers were developed to shorten recovery time and reduce the risk of side effects.

Laser resurfacing can:

  • Decrease the appearance of fine lines in the face
  • Treat loss of skin tone and improve your complexion if you have scars or sun damage
  • Create a younger looking complexion
  • Treat mild to moderate acne scars

Skin Tightening

Skin Tightening

Skin tightening procedures provide a nonsurgical alternative to more invasive procedures for correcting skin laxity and improving skin quality. Skin tightening procedures are a noninvasive, nonsurgical technique that tightens facial or body skin. They are performed with no incisions, minimal discomfort, and little to no downtime. Skin tightening procedures can be used for all skin types.

Nonsurgical Skin Tightening

There are three general options for nonsurgical skin tightening. After evaluating the desired area of treatment and your skin quality, Dr. Namazie will choose the option that is best suited for your specific situation.

Radiofrequency Therapy

Radiofrequency (RF) therapy stimulates the production of collagen, a protein in the body that gives your skin its firmness. RF therapy uses energy waves to heat the layer of your skin known as your dermis, which in turn increases collagen. The treatment usually takes around an hour and should be painless.

The process of Radiofrequency therapy includes the following:

  • The treatment area is measured and marked
  • Your skin is cooled for comfort and safety
  • A specially designed treatment tip is placed against your skin
  • Radiofrequency energy penetrates deep into the skin’s tissue, heating the treatment areas and stimulating collagen production
  • You may feel a gentle vibration as well as cooling and heating sensations during each pulse
  • The upper layer of your skin is cooled


An alternative skin tightening therapy uses ultrasound. The ultrasound device reaches to the deepest layers of the skin to deliver collagen-stimulating energy. This non-invasive treatment is usually only necessary once, and the full effects can be seen three to six months after the procedure.

The ultrasound therapy process includes the following:

  • The treatment area is measured and marked
  • An ultrasound gel is applied to your skin
  • A smooth handpiece is placed on your skin and an image of the tissue beneath is projected on a screen so your provider can see the treatment area and underlying structures
  • Small thermal bursts stimulate the deep structural support layers of the skin without disturbing the skin’s surface
  • Multiple passes are performed at varying depths within the skin



Botox® is a minimally invasive treatment given through injections. Botox® is used to treat wrinkles, correct facial imperfections, and create a more youthful, fresh facial appearance.


Botox® is a purified form of the botulinum toxin that is obtained from bacteria. It works by blocking nerve signals in the muscles where it is injected. When those nerve signals are interrupted, the affected muscle is temporarily paralyzed or frozen. Without movement of these selected muscles in the face, certain wrinkles may be softened, reduced, or even removed.

For wrinkle treatment, Botox® is primarily used to treat dynamic wrinkles, or, in other words, wrinkles caused by muscle movement. These wrinkles occur naturally around the eyes and mouth, as well as in between your eyebrows. They become more pronounced with age. Botox® injections relax the muscles near these wrinkles. Not allowing the muscles to move reduces the appearance of dynamic wrinkles. Botox® is not used for fine lines caused by collagen breakdown.
